Intel Core i3 540 (3.06 GHz) processor

While the powerful Core i7 processors and the budget friendly Core i5 processors has stolen all the attention, the Core i3 series has discretely reached the Danish market as well. At first, most users wouldn\'t care much for these, but a closer look at the Intel Core i3 might be worth your while.

Introduction
While the powerful Core i7 processors and the budget friendly Core i5 processors has stolen all the attention, the Core i3 series has discretely reached the Danish market as well. At first, most users wouldn\'t care much for these, but a closer look at the Intel Core i3 might be worth your while.
Like the Core i5 600-series versions, the Clarkdale architecture features 32nm production, emits less heat and has a lower power consumption. At the same time, a Core i3 processor can be purchased for around 800DKR - 30 percent less than the slowest Core i5 processor.

The Intel Core i3 is therefore the reasonable choice for the regular user, who cares more about the money/Gigahertz ratio, than raw performance. Even though the i3 is a dual core socket 1156 processor with Hyper threading like the Core i5, they\'re not completely identical as the Core i3 lags Turbo Boost.

At this point you might be doubting if it\'ll work without the Turbo Boost technology, or if it\'s aimed at the media center market?
We\'ve put an Intel Core i3 540 - at 3.06Ghz through a series of benchmarks and compared the results with the Core i5 661 we reviewed back in January. The results might surprise you!
